Videonystagmography (VNG) equipment allows you to perform a battery of tests designed
to provide information regarding the site of the lesion causing the dizziness. VNG is an
advanced version of electronystagmography (ENG), using infrared cameras instead of
electrodes to track eye movements resulting from visual stimulation and positional
movement during testing. VNG equipment allows the examiner to begin testing more
quickly and provides a more comfortable testing situation for the patient than ENG. Also,
by recording each eye during testing, the clinician not only is able to analyze eye movements
for test interpretation, but he or she also creates a valuable video record that may be
reviewed independently of the computer analysis for subjective information about the
test and for scoring of the Dix-Hallpike test, which can only be done through observation
of the eyes.
Fast To Set Up And Easy To Use! Our VNG system is a two-camera recording system,
providing independent records of left and right eye movements. The state of the art
goggles containing the cameras are easy to use and may be left uncovered for testing
with visual stimuli or covered to provide a dark environment for traditional "eyes closed"
testing during positional and other tests. The goggles are also lightweight and durable
to provide more natural movement during repositioning tests. A foot switch is also included
for starting and pausing data collection, allowing the examiner to be with the patient
during testing, instead of the equipment.
The VNG system uses a Windows interface for ease of use for the examiner. The software
is intuitive, yet powerful, allowing the examiner to completely customize test protocols
and normative data and define preferences that best suite his or her needs. During the
examination, the software provides a graphical display of data with immediate on-line
analysis, while simultaneously displaying images of the eyes. This immediate feedback
helps the examiner obtain better data and avoid repeating tests because of artifact,
inattentiveness, or other subjective factors.
Comprehensive, Concise And Accurate Data. The VNG software provides test
information that is accurate to 0.1°. All standard nystagmography tests are included in
the system and standard analysis is performed by the software, saving time and effort
and reducing human error in scoring and analysis. Reports are concise enough to allow
rapid review by the physician, but detailed enough to provide all the information necessary
for a comprehensive interpretation of results.
Exclusive Stimulus Options. The equipment includes Visual Lab software that provides
access to a unique selection of stimulus patterns that are not available on any other
available systems. Stimuli can be displayed not only on a TV, as with other systems, but
also on a flat wall or screen for full-field stimulation. Visual Lab software also offers the
examiner a selection of color patterns, scenery, and image sizes for unmatched flexibility
to meet your and your patients' needs!
The VNG system includes: patient goggles, two camera modules for patient goggles
and 2-channel software, installation cd, medical-grade PC with SoftEyes Board for data
collection, foot switch, Visual Lab operation disk, Visual Lab PC without monitor/projector
(available separately), operation manual, TV/VCR combination unit, and a color printer.
